these mass-produced current denominations in worthless metals will never have a true collector base.

I think many modern coin collectors might seriously disagree with your assertion that they aren't "true collectors."

Ok. Let's bring this back around to the original post.
This question has nothing to do with "coins" or with Trump being on a coin / note or Trump doing anything.
Being a currency collector, and knowing that a new Secretary will be in place, does anyone know when the new series notes will be printed?
Moderators: this was not intended to be political. If you feel it's getting out of hand feel free to axe it.
Rest in Peace

. I thought we by law have to do that, someone correct me if even that's been changed, seems everything else has. BTW, for those on the other side of the political spectrum, they make Hillary TP and even have a Bernie roll, ugh.

I thought with a new Secretary of the Treasury that they could void the Tubman $10 bill?

They've already backtracked on that. As of April 2016, Tubman is slated to be on the $20, not the $10. But there's still time to change that direction because it's going to happen until 2020, I believe.

The new series will be dated 2017 and look for the first issuance to be $1 bills sometime this Summer.

(At least that is how it has worked in the past when we "drain the swamp" and then fill it back up again!)

Whatever changes are made to US coin and currency, they will be TREMENDOUS. President Trump knows more about coins and currency than even the engravers!

I collect modern coins too, but even if I didn't, I like some nice variety in my coinage. The mint can and does make nice coins, even if some recent ones have been disappointing.

Apologize for my comments about the collector appeal of modern issues. Totally thoughtless.

I personally have no real issue with circulating coins, whatever the design. They are real circulating "coin of the realm" and can purchase anything our consumer society produces. Granted they are close to worthless from an intrinsic perspective but so is paper. I look at them as something to use; the collecting value is secondary.

Much better than NCLT that may be of precious metal but cannot be spent in most cases without a big loss.

Why can't our useful items have artistic merit? It's been proven repeatedly it can be done, and it certainly never hurt. I keep the nicest modern coins I can find, but I wish often the designs were not so endless and boring.Personally I find the US nickel and dime to be the worst offenders, along with the front of the quarter.
Also, Coinfrog, it's all good.

I heard they'll introduce the new 2016 dollar bill pretty soon.

After Emperor Trump has finished spending all of your money you wont get to see much of it anyway So it won't really matter what signature is on the bills

Actually, if he does what both JFK and Reagan did (despite media lies about Reagan - these two men's economic polices were the same - watch their speeches about it), we should be in for good times again. But... it's only history, and the media sure hates that.
