It's heavy -- 4.6 grams. 23.9 mm by 20.5. No seam on the edge. Is it real? What is the reverse?

Can't think of why someone would counterfeit a Gordian III but maybe that'd make it the perfect crime...

But really, in my opinion your coin looks real. Judging by the inscription (IOVIS) I would say that's Jupiter on the reverse.

Not a denarius, but rather an antoninianus like this: http://www.coinproject.com/coin_det...p?coin=51648

Chuy1530...
I have two counterfeit Gordian III antoninianus in my "Horror museum".
Making a fake coin cost about 3-5 $, if you can sell it for 10 $ in ebay...

The coin appears to be genuine just a bit worn. You can see some of the bronze core metal starting to show on the reverse.

Athalbert, I suppose, but then making a fake $30 coin also costs $3 so I would stick with that. Guess it must be easier to fly under the radar with Gordian IIIs than low quality Trajan or Hadrians.
