Sad to say, but I misread my machine. I thought that dime, quarter, half dollar, and dollar automatically meant it was silver. Apparently not. Half an hour of detecting yields a 1966 quarter and a 1972 penny.

But still -- since you had dug up a broken mason jar I was hoping it had been full of silver. Well, it's nice to dream about such things.

It will be spring before you know it and I'm sure you'll find lots more then.

I will be detecting my other yard (we own two houses) soon, which is a good 50-60 years older than the one I just detected.
