I met up with a gentleman and bought quite a few of his slabbed Roosevelt dimes that were all MS67's in old "fattie" NGC slabs. There were multiple 1949 S coins and I know these are quite rare at MS67 FT. NGC puts the value at FT at $1,700, and the non FT value around $150. I sent this dime and 4 others in that might possibly be an FT example. It's going through grading now and hope to find out soon. Just want y'alls input before I get the official news. I'll let y'all know once I get the official word back. Pics below.

I don't think it's FT but I'm looking forward to what they say.
Rest in Peace

Bummer to hear y'all don't think it's FT. I know the photos make it very difficult to tell, and under a 20x loupe I'd say 50/50. Looking at the Census there are only 16 of these that NGC has ever graded at MS67FT, so I know my odds are quite low....

Scratches are on the holder, thankfully! I added another full photo of it in the holder. I will keep y'all posted.

I waited years for my own NGC 49-S, primarily because I hate the pepper toning seen on most of them.

Finally found one with close to FT, but not quite. NGC MS-67 - $47 with postage.

Patience is my sneaky way of getting coins I want at reasonable prices.

Amazing news! I went online to check the status and the grades are posted. It is an MS-67 FT!! Now only the 17th they've given the grade! I don't have personal pictures, but I typed in the cert number into the NGC verification page and these are now posted.

Moxking - why do most of them have that type of toning? Is it due to the way most of them were stored?
Rest in Peace

Unless I'm totally wrong ,the horizontal bands upper and lower have to be split with no interruptions . I don't see it on last photos .

The NGC pictures aren't focused on the coin at all. I'll post pics I take myself when I receive them in the mail.
