Picked this up for my girlfriends collection of toned Washington quarters.

I'm curious. How much does Toning really enhance the value of coins? I know nice natural toning improves the eye appeal but how does that translate into added value?

Beautiful Washington quarter! at least MS 64? I'm no expert on Washington's, just going on eyesight and gut feelings!
Just saw what T-BOP mentioned - 64, maybe the nicks drop it to 63.

Beautiful 65 or 66, congrats. You might want to change your thread header to "Addition" from "Edition".

Very nice looking quarter. I usually do not like toning, but this beauty is an exception.

I am trying to figure out the modern grading system.

Isn't that wear on the high points of Washington's hair directly in an almost straight line below traveling downwards from the E in LIBERTY? His receding hairline has what looks like wear (and a bit of small points of discoloration) on the high points.

If its not wear, what is it?

Also, isn't that wear on the left (as we look at it) wing? Look at the high points of the lower row of feathers to the left of the eagle's left leg. Follow the lower edge of the wing feathers up and left -- away from the left leg. Don't the high points of that edge show more and more wear the farther up you go?

How much squash could a Sasquatch squash if a Sasquatch would squash squash?
