This is the first time I found a walking liberty and is my only walking liberty. Coin is in very good shape. What would you guys grade this coin as and what it's value would be? I don't know much about this coin. I would give an AU 55 maybe 58. Is it worth sending to be graded? *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

I would say XF details, cleaned. Worth about melt, so I would not send it for grading if I were you.

Unless the coin is a 64 or better it isn't worth submitting. This is a common date and a xf coin. Worth about $6-$7

You can see the wear on the Eagles chest, may make EF-40

Oh wow. My guesstimate of this coin being AU shows how much I don't know about this coin. Lol! I will try to get better pictures with better lighting. I read that it is almost as Rare as the 1941-S but not sure if it meant in gem. Must be in gem since there were more than 12 million of these minted. And they are know to have weak strike so could be mistaken for a lower grade?

Been meaning to post this last night as well. The coin showns details just like seen in the screenshot below taken from coinauctionhelp.com. I didn't have the proper lighting so the coin in my first post wasn't clear on the details. But it is all there. If the eagle chest had less wear, I would have given AU 58, but AU 50-55 IMHO. I don't plan to sell it anyways, but always good to know right?

The 42-S is a tougher Walker to find, but the value doesn't start increasing in any of the circulated grades much above melt value.
This particular coin is probably near $7 for real value (what you could sell it for at retail) and it is a long way from being worth slabbing.
Still, for a first Walker, that is a great first Walker.

, but then again, I'm hardly an expert on weak strikes in this series.

the light reflection off the coin really makes it difficult to determine its grade however it would be low AU
