Wow! You know there's quite some stories and memories for that very fortunate fellow. Those of us whose fathers or other family got us interested in coin collecting, brings back a few of my own.

This is a great ending to the story.

Something not quite making sense though. The set was stolen in 1972. There are SBA's, first made in 1979, in the bottom right of the included pic.

Either the owners got back more than they lost, or the journalist just grabbed a pic of a random coin collection to include with the article.

... or maybe the thief was/became a collector? Or, added coins stolen from yet another collector? Or ...

Maybe the thieves stole the collection and then added the SBAs to it afterwards when they found some in change?

I also see a bicentennial half dollar. Those weren't minted till 1976.

Well, they did say valuable coins. I mainly saw foreign coins and tokens. I don't know. I'm just happy the guy gets them back. I'm sure he was completely in shock that they were found after so many years. I mean, how crazy is that? I wonder if it was the whole collection or just partial that was found. I hope to get a follow up on this story.
