Hi everyone I've acquired this 20 pence coin it's got what I'd call at work swarf ( metal picked up from a press tool and pressed into the next component by mistake ) I've also noticed a crack below the queens head and also the A in ELIZABETH seems deeper I'm wondering if I'm right in this and is it a common error thanks for looking I've tried to get best pics
I think I have one of these myself. The queen wearing headphones. The quality control at The Royal Mint leaves much to be desired for some time now. This particular error, however it is caused, seems to be limited to the 20p coin. Error coins such as this having little interest to UK collectors at present, but this may change in future if we follow U.S. trends. Had this been an American coin, there would have been far more interest.
Lol I like the headphones term it is surprising that these do get past an inspector of some sort with it being quite a big error thanks for the reply alganbagerap annd I hope to post some more interesting coins as my collection grows
American collectors actively seek out error coins. We tend to regard them as unimportant, a trend that I think will change eventually although the emphasis would probably be on pre-decimal coins.
Thanks for the reply I like all these error coins and think they hold a bit of character which makes them in there own way unique thanks again and hope to be back with more coins and errors
