Gee, at that mark-up over the non-colorized coins the mint can dunk these where the rim doesn't shine (no pun intended).

Surprisingly I actually don't mind the coloring. I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but the Mint images look pretty good. It remains to be seen how they look in person, though, and it still doesn't change my opinion that the basketball commemorative program is gimmicky. Quote: I am once again surprised by the Mint's pricing - $95 for the colorized silver dollar (a 28% jump over the standard proof coin at regular price) and $55 for the colorized half dollar (a 25% jump). I think we all realized the colorized coins would be more, but I didn't think 25%+ more! IMO, that's the problem. The prices are exorbitant! I can understand a slight increase for the coloring, but not much. Compared to the regular prices for last year's commemorative coins, the increase is even more dramatic: 67% for the half ($32.95 -> $55.00) and 58% for the dollar ($59.95 -> $95.00).

I am still on the fence if I want to get any of these.
My wife saw the images of the ones with colours on them and asked if I am getting any of them. Her feelings are since it is the first time that the US Mint is doing this, I should get them with and without colours.
Right now, I am leaning bit towards the colour half, enhanced half, and proof half.
I already see some folks are not keen on these at all.

I figured I would pick up one of each, and chose the dollar. I also picked up the kids half for the special finish. I was going to get a set of half dollars for a friend who really likes basketball, but given the prices, they'll have to settle for the uncolored version only.

A final look at the sales figures until after the colorized coins are released: COIN DESCRIPTION / AS OF JUNE 7 / AS OF JUNE 14 / AS OF JUNE 21 / AS OF JULY 12 / CHANGE FROM PREVIOUS REPORT 2020 BASKETBALL HOF - GOLD PROOF / 5,750 / 6,284 / 6,527 / 7,106 / +5792020 BASKETBALL HOF - GOLD UNC / 2,519 / 2,666 / 2,732 / 2,928 / +1962020 BASKETBALL HOF - SILVER PROOF / 44,215 / 50,016 / 53,086 / 60,239 / +7,1532020 BASKETBALL HOF - SILVER UNC / 14,395 / 15,956 / 16,602 / 18,738 / +2,1362020 BASKETBALL HOF - CLAD PROOF / 18,312 / 20,168 / 21,099 / 24,141 / +3,0422020 BASKETBALL HOF - CLAD UNC / 9,709 / 10,655 / 11,080 / 12,349 / +1,2692020 BASKETBALL HOF - KIDS SET / 20,280 / 21,828 / 22,487 / 23,915 / +1,428As with all programs, the first week of sales provides the largest volume and sales beyond that are relatively slow. That said, sales for the Basketball HoF coins continue to lag behind expectations - remember that the above increases represent three week's worth of sales. Hopes were that the program would match the popularity of the Baseball HOF program, but that hasn't happened by any stretch. It will be interesting to see what type of sales bump is provided by the introduction of the colorized coins.

The packaging for the enhanced half is pretty cool since it allows the coin to roll as if making a shot into the net, but I agree, I can't see what's enhanced about it

+1 I don't see the enhanced uncirculated finish on the kids set half.

Interesting packaging and interesting finish. It does not look like the normal EU coins (like the 2017 EU set), although mellamobradley46's first image looks a little more like the "traditional" EU (if there is such a thing).

I noticed that the NGC Registry has already added the LulaRose Colorized Basketball Hall of Fame commemoratives to its half dollar and silver dollar commemorative registry sets, but NGC has not added the Enhanced Basketball Hall of Fame Kid's Set commemorative half dollar to the registry. I find this odd, especially since the NGC Commemorative Half Dollar Registry already includes a slot for the Enhanced Kennedy half dollar from the 2019 Apollo Half Dollar Set. NGC is currently grading the Enhanced Basketball Hall of Fame Half Dollar from the Kid's Set, so why not include the coin in the commemorative half dollar registry?

I just got a Mint e-mail saying a select few of the COA's on the colorized coins will be signed and numbered by the Mint director. Do you think this will add value?
