Got the one with lights in mail yesterday, acidic1 and so far looking good but for one thing... with large coins like Spanish 8 reales you need to increase distance from coin, which in turn lessens light strength.

Was just going to K-mart to see if they stock small hobby-type stand to accomodate extra light source - you know the thing - about one foot high with couple arms with clips to attach extra led and also small white card to reflect/diffuse light intensity.

Anyway, it's now midday and I'm going shopping... wish me luck!

Les

I've got one of those from e-bay and I guess it's not to bad if you figure a different lighting system for it.
Here's a few practice shots and then used my microscope again.

My humble verdict ...

This gadget is great - the trick is in the lighting, and now have one of them 'hands free' stands from Tandy/Dick Smith/RadioShack.

Sometimes just simply point-and-shoot for good results and maybe adjust brightness/contrast etc like asacidic1 suggests. But more often, best images result when possition extra led's around subject and (with Dino's lights off), bounce added light from small white cards on 'hands free' thingo.

These extra led's can be them cheapie bicycle lamps, or baseball cap clip-on's (also use for my early morning jetty fishing!)

Will maybe send some pics when I finally gets sober ... hic!

Pee-Ess ...
If there's one thing the Dino lacks it's a remote focus. Having to adjust by physically touching the camera can be a bit nerve-wracking! otherwise 10/10. Are you listening, Dino people?

Cheers, Les

Hi all: I have been looking at these as well~~ I was actually hoping that they would come out with a version that had a central scope with two or more side lights. I have not seen that although it has been several months since I went to their web site.

Any recommendations on model and accesories?

Please note I am considering using this as a mobile setup with a laptop comnputer.

Thanks,

G.E.

Hi all:

What model would you recommend? Does anyone use or think the measurement software is needed or provides any value added.

Oh, the compnay now has a table top stand with two addiotnal side LED lights. I have not seen it on the web site yet, but got the word from their sales department.

I'd wait and see what the table looks like (if you like it).

gewoodfo,
I have model# AM411T
- 1.3M/Resolution 1280x1024
- USB 2.0 Output
- 20-230x Continuous
- Digital "zoom in" VGA up to 330x
- Micro touch (trigger button)
- 8 LEDs on/off controlled by software
I love my Dino-Lite. I cant ever see myself using the measurement feature or even wanting to. I think the AM413FVT/FVT2 has a much larger price tag also. When I purchased the scope I also got the #MS22B stand, It does not have the extra LEDs. I currently do not use the stand. I made my own stand out of old Indicator base parts and also put together a photo box that works GREAT !

JP324, . I like to"roll my own", and like to get ideas from them that do likewise. Not pictures of the coins. I want to see the hardware!

Anyone have a web site for that DINO? I would like to check it out. I have scope(s), and cameras, including a scope camera that fits into the eye-piece well on my QSZ scope, but NONE give me the FULL-FACE of a dollar, or a cent. I want to be able to do some MACRA shots as well. Any ideas,? Anyone? Thanks,
dick

Livingdinasaur and all: The Correct address is:
http://www.bigc.com

JP324: I would not mind seeing pictures of your setup as well.
Also, how to you use it? Do use this as a tool for coin inspection or geting high quality photos of the coins or other.

Thanks,
