What do y'all think? Natural wearing or purposefully marked?

Just a newbie but wouldn't it have to be heated up for some of that damage? For example, the way the rim of the reverse side has curled in (around 9 o'clock) but wasn't shaved off?

Heat is not required; metal is malleable and can be deformed given enough force. That's how coins are made in the first place.
