Was reading on another forum about strikethrough coins. Could this be one of those? The reverse looks normal enough but the obverse is missing bits. It's a 2000 5c.

Hi Peter, looking at the coin in hand I see no evidence of tooling. Looks like it happened when minted. The other side is fairly normal. Going by others descriptions "Strikethrough" appears to be what it is.

Yes looks to have been Struck Through Grease or oil. It's a really impressive piece!!
