T-BOP Rest in Peace United States 18456 Posts	Posted 03/25/2017 08:11 am I don't know about the so called polishing marks ,but see that strong detail in his hair and braid ., A virtually mark free coin ( just looking at obverse ) this is why it graded 66+ .I'm pretty sure reverse will be strong too ; Tail feathers , Breast feathers , Wing tips . paralyse Bedrock of the Community United States 12057 Posts	Posted 03/25/2017 11:15 pm These do not appear to be die polishing lines, but rather the lines left by toning which occurs either 1) after a coin has been lightly wiped or 2) toning from being in contact with something that has that particular pattern or texture. A third option is a possible strike-through. Would need clear pictures of both sides to see if these lines are in fact incuse or just toning marks. I have never seen a silver Washington with dies polished in this manner, so this is quite an intriguing post for me to have come across.
