I's a Japanese 5 Sen - Meiji, minted between years 22 - 30 (1889 - 1897)... (but I don't know the year of your coin) I am not experienced enough to express an opinion on grade. I'll leave that to the experts.

Looks like year 22 to me, which would presumably make it 1889.

Not an expert at all, so no comment on grade or value, sorry.

Thank you for all the replies. It only cost me a couple of pence as I brought it in a job lot of coins from a market stall. I am really pleased to have such a cool looking coin, I also got a few more Japanese coins. I will post some more pictures soon
