1974 D Cents Seems Unusual

When I first got these pennies it stood out from the others to pennies. It was vibrant in appearance. With a magnifier I could see the surface is bare and texture, if that makes any sense. The past few months it's been in the trunk placed in a card board box. The colors gotten darker and black spots are appearing on the middle coin. It all weighs less then 3.1 grams. One of it weighs about 2.9 grams. There is no wear for it to lose weight.
