When we bought our new home a couple years ago I found a couple coins in the furniture from the prior owners (we bought it furnished). That got me to thinking, always a dangerous thing.
Remembering the stories of the Lucky Loonie up in Canada, I decided to seed my yard with coins to hopefully be found later.
When they were building the pool I stuck in a couple Sac dollars in while they were shooting the concrete into the forms.
When they were rebuilding the rear patio I popped a few mixed coins among the paver blocks in the leveling sand. I did the same when they did the front patio.
I tossed a few coins into the blown-in insulation in the attic when I was up there.
When they remodeled my office I stuck a
Kennedy half in the drywall mud and dropped a few other coins into a couple different walls as they were opened.
Last month I saw a guy in the nearby park metal detecting so the next day I went there and stuck a few common Wheats and dateless Buffalo's and pushed them down into the turf.
When I went 4-wheeling in the desert last week I remembered to toss a few older pennies and nickels out in random places.
Every time I go to the beach I always make sure to seed a couple coins out there to be found. I save crudded up coins from roll hunting and circulation as well as CoinStar finds.
When we were rebuilding our station at work before I retired I made sure to stick a couple in the concrete and in a couple pipe chases as well as one in the tar they were pouring for the roof and the blacktop in the parking lot.
While I know most of these would never be found just the possibility of their finding would be worth it. Imagine the excitement a hundred years from now as they demolish my house and find a 150 year old penny.
Is there anyone else crazy enough to do the same thing? What coins do you sacrifice for this?
