Quote: Very disappointing, I have purchased every American silver eage from the mint since 1996,21 years of a faithful coustomer, and now I'm blocked out by speculators That stinks.

Quote: My order went from "processing" to "backorder" - still better than "no order"... Did they send you an email or did you look in your order history on the website? Every order shown in my order history has a shipping status of PROCESSING.

Curses! Same. Read your post, checked my status and it's gone from processing to backordered, even though I got the acknowledgement email from the mint.

Quote: I didn't think this would become "Unavailable" so soon. HH limits should have been in place.
Hasn't the Mint learned this already? Don't get it twisted. The Mint knows exactly what they're doing. They are vicious and cunning and know exactly how to bait a hook to catch future buyers. They aren't idiots like most assume.

Quote: Without a quote I am not sure what that is referring to Here's a hint, foxy boy. Look at Cascade's LAST response. Quotation not needed. It's common sense that I would be referring to his LAST response. Quote:but ?"tired series"? Hmmmm.... What do you collect? Ike dollars? Awww, did I hurt your wittle feewings? But I get it. You're mad because you're gonna have to wait to satisfy your lustful need to satisfy your greed with the "flip," right? I know. I know. You won't feel valid until that happens. But hopefully you felt a little valid by mocking me for a series I collect- a series that many other people on this forum also collect. Oh, and by the way, I think the ASE is tired and boring, but I'm not going to mock you for collecting them. Oh, but I forgot. You don't collect. You scalp and flip. Sorry.

I guess it's all how you define "flip" I am retired and I supplement my income by buying and selling Mint products. I usually wait until there is a release with obvious potential and order as many as I can afford. There is rarely more than one appropriate item in a year. I try to announce this product by starting or continuing a thread so ANYONE here could have the chance to also purchase this item if they agree with its' potential. I then have them graded by NGC and then sell them to collectors on ebay. It's usually many months or years before the item leaves my possession. The last similar situation was last years' Liberty Medals. If that's considered a flip then you are correct. I call it providing product to those who need an item...and...providing myself with a bit of supplemental income. ...and now back to the real purpose of this thread

The one unit that I ordered is still in processing. My CC was charged a about a half hour after my order was placed.

^ They don't charge you right away. This was just an authorization to ensure everything is legit and that you can actually pay once the order ships - this is when your card gets hit.
According to the mintnewsblog, there were a few sets available this morning. I think those 75k are gone. You may get lucky because of order cancellations or credit card issues, but other than that - wait for the Limited Edition Silver Proof Set later this year.
And if you're desperate, WAIT. Prices will come down again - just look at what happened to the Baseball coin, the March of Dimes set etc.

From coinnews:
Update (April 5): The U.S. Mint on April 5 at 10:08 a.m. ET sent news editors the following notice about the set's status: "Sales attrition from cancellations, returns and credit card declinations could result in a very limited quantity being made available for sale."

^^ Quote: They don't charge you right away. This was just an authorization to ensure everything is legit and that you can actually pay once the order ships - this is when your card gets hit. Not sure if that is correct. I have 2 orders. One is in processing with full costs already charged to my cc and the second order is backordered with only the shipping cost already charged to my cc. So the mint has "hit" me twice and nothing is shipped. Now they may credit me if the second order doesn't complete, but as of now they have.
