Penny With Lettering On The "rim"?

I apologize if I have my terminology incorrect, as I am new here, but my son and I came across this 1987 Penny with the lettering of "In God..." and "Liberty" very close to the edges and the "L" is rubbed out a bit because it appears to be on the rim. We would greatly appreciate it if someone could shed some light on the proper terminology for this type of occurrence. Thank you very much in advance for your help! Report this Post to the Staff

Most of the 80's decade have this situation. If you can find one that doesn't have it - that would be a keeper for your album :) Report this Post to the Staff

I can't see the bottom of the coin to see if it is showing a wider rim on that area or not. But the weakness happens when the devices are thinned on that area.
