If you really think there's some doubling, point it out to us and try to get some better, magnified pics of the area in question.

I don't see doubling, but I do see narrowed tops of lettering in IN GOD WE TRUST. I went through some 1972 and 1972 D cents from CRHing last night, and noticed that this is fairly common. Perhaps you're confusing it with one of the DDOs on copper coins, which also exhibits narrowed lettering? (Die polishing or die wear is my guess for the cause.)
