If the weight is right and the dimensions of the coin are right, the specific gravity will be right. There's nothing more we can do here. It has already passed the board's scrutiny and we are pretty good at picking out counterfeits. Send it to PCGS.

I want to thank everyone for their time, help, and detective work identifying this coin.

And yes I did receive other coins but I am still in the middle of going through them.

I will post the results from PCGS whenever it comes back. Could be a few weeks.

Have a good Day/Night everyone.! :)

Wow....for all the incredibly bad 1795 S$1 fakes that pop up on the boards, its REALLY nice to see what looks to be a winner. I hope you did get a genuine one handed down and I think I speak for everyone on the boards that we are interested in seeing everything else you inherited!

Congrats (I hope!)

Hi guys sorry for the late update, I have been busy.

So I submitted the coin last week through an authorized dealer to PCGS, and should get it back really soon.
The dealer conducted his own tests on it, and said he think it is real too. :)!

Here are some other Mixed coins that were in the batch. I don't know if there are any really good coins here.
Some seem to be modern too, and foreign. (the top right Coin isn't Gold)

I took the pictures and flipped all of them. Please let me know if any of them seem rare.

The collection looks to be mostly foreign silver coins with some American coinage in the mix. Obviously the 1795 dollar is your best piece if genuine (which I think it is, although I am no expert on this series). Good luck with PCGS and please do let us know the results.

If this is the rest of what you inherited, a genuine 1795 dollar does not seem to fit in.

Yeah, it does seem quite odd, right? Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to seeing the PCGS results.

Details seem accurate but something about the coin looks a bit off to me - the wear pattern just doesn't seem to be genuine. Given the context of it being found in a lot of mostly inexpensive modern coins, I would say it is likely to be a high quality contemporary fake. Definitely worth sending in, however. Good luck!

If it was a contemporary counterfeit it wouldn't be silver and the weight would be seriously off. Or it would be low grade silver and the weight would still be seriously off.

Nothing at all rare in that mixed lot; most are quite common.
There are a few somewhat desirable pieces to a foreign silver collector but no dealer is going to want to pay more than a percentage below melt.

I'll put it that way: the SLQ might well be the most valuable coin in this entire bunch (at least, if the date is readable).

A high qualify counterfeit of a rare date will usually be struck in the correct alloy - if you're trying to pawn off a fake 1794 dollar worth $4500 retail it would be a bit silly to strike it in the wrong metal.
