Hey guys, what do you think about this one? As others have found, it's hard to capture the gunmetal color just right. This one stood out as a potential Black Beauty...except for the fact that it's a '45.

Because of it's metal content which is different from regular Jefferson nickels the War Nickels when circulated have that dark grey look to them . Your Nickel is not a Black Beauty .

Agree, the warnicks have to be evaluated separately - they tarnish like silver coins.  to the CCF!

Were these nickels dark when they were fresh from the mint, or does the darkening develop over time?
