A little weak of a strike, typical of the New Orleans mint... I was hoping MS-64/65, but strike may hold it back a bit. What do you guys think? Thanks for looking :)

Boy is that a clean one! Probably 66 surfaces, but agree pancake strike could hold it back, shame.

Thanks Dave! Looks like a VAM-1A2 to me, or possibly a 1A3 :) Don't see the break on the rim at denticles so I am leaning towards VAM-1A2.

Didn't think about it til now, but may have been a little more appropriate in the VAM section. I was just hoping for an honest grade opinion, but any VAMmer could probably give a good opinion. Thanks again Dave and anyone else looking!

Yeah there wasn't much to go by Dave. When I look at 1888-O I always check for the obvious ones, which means there is not much to look for (Lips/LIBERTY for V4, date for V7A, text stop or eagle head for the scarface, mint mark for the oval O, and R for the E-clash). Just noticed the crack and confirmed with clash through mint mark. Ended up being worth it looking for an hour or two at 1888-Os :) My fingers are crossed for MS-65, but even a 63 would make me happy.

Awesome, thank you all. I was thinking 64, hoping 65 and would settle for 63. If/when I get it graded I will let you know.

Depending on luster. MS64-MS65. Really quite a nice example.

Very beautiful coin! My best is graded a 63, I think yours can hit 65
