I'm pretty sure they had been getting a lot of feedback over the last year or so that people didn't want to be paying significant premiums for packaging anymore

That could be it. I just figured since they were running out of time to get these released they just went with the most basic.

At this price, it may just be a cardboard box. Something similar to what 50c commemorative coins are packaged in.
I can see that.

But then again, that half dollar pair cost three dollars more. Are we sure the packaging will even be that fancy?

On a recent email from the mint it states each attractively packaged coin comes with a coa. Wonder if that's the mints idea of "attractive packaging".

You notice the adjective "attractively" is describing the verb "packaged". So I was thinking it might be packaged by European Supermodels.

Perhaps the First Lady is working the packaging line. #128539;

Lol.......you guys are hilarious.

I actually just hope the introductory (and the rest to follow) come encapsulated. I plan on placing a set inside a wooden case like I did with the Presidential dollars.

I placed my order today for proofs and one uncirculated roll from both Philadelphia and Denver. Assuming that the mint is planning on including these in the proof and uncirculated sets going forward, these could be winners depending on how many they've actually minted. This coin seems very under the radar right now. In about three weeks we should have the final mintage figures.

Not a fan of the design at all, and having the date incuse is a nuisance since most collectors display their coins in a manner to show the obverse/reverse, and not the rim.

Not to mention the rest of the world is eating our lunch on innovation.

Signed, the Grinch. :)

I also placed an order for a couple proofs and a roll of P's. The proofs are for me but I figured it'd be cool to pass out the unc ones to friends and co-workers just for the heck of it.

You may have a point there Bret. Gonna be interesting to see what the final numbers are.

I also got an order in today. Since I lead the innovation group at work, I also got a roll to hand out. I'm thinking they will make nice award tokens to recognize good work in our Innovation group. They aren't major awards or anything, but should be a nice "attaboy".

Did anyone notice that they are selling the reverse proof coins for this set individually?
That will make this set (when complete with P/RP/P/D)will be a bit expensive, but I guess that is only if this set gets some attention.

I am not a fan of all the extra space on the coin but I will pick up a proof coin and maybe a roll of each. I can see this being a key set and at least worth more than what it costs.

I wonder how the mintage will be with it only being released for 2 weeks. I guess time will tell.

I picked up a few proofs and a roll each P/D.

Is there something in the legislation that limits sales to this year only? If there isn't, I wouldn't be surprised if they were still selling at this time next year.

They can only mint coins in the year for which they are date marked. They can sell them as long as they have inventory.

Great idea!

I just ordered a couple of the proofs. I'm still "meh" about this series but we'll see, I guess.

Well, I folded today and bought one proof and a roll each of the "P" and "D" issues. $72.85 for three coins worth $3 for spending and worth 27=cents in metal. At least I did get free shipping!

I'll keep the 3 coins for my collection, and I'm thinking I'll give the rest of the dollar coins to family I'll see for Xmas (if they arrive by then), or use them for tip-money when I do out to eat.

How did you get free shipping? I went with expedited since they have it discounted and can be sure to have it by next week. Figured I'd have received shipping notice by now but not so. Hate when the handling takes longer than the shipping.
