@john100...I tried last night to leave it under a regular light....nothing. Only works with UV light. I received a UV light as part of my order from the mint so everyone should have gotten one. Also I don't think they should call these types of coins GITD.....you can see the glowing embellishments under the UV light in the dark or in day light conditions.

I will return my received GITD coin too. It doesn't come with flashlight. And the GITD feature doesn't even work. Not going to spend $200 on that.

@yesOrNo: I would call Gatewest and request the black light flash light - it was supposed to be included with the coin. They specify that it is included on their sales page for the coin. The fact that yours is missing is very likely a simple mistake / packaging error.

@New1954: I don't know if a plating problem is considered an error coin or if it is worth anything. Maybe this is valuable to an anti-monarchist . @shopaholic: Did you notice any other flaws?

Thanks. I really expected the GITD coin to work on its own, without a flashlight.

That is why they provide the flashlight for this GITD. Gatewest should have sent you one.

That would be my expectation as well. RCM has used the terms GITD and GIBL (glow in black light) independently. First GITD coin back in 2012 -- http://www.mint.ca/store/coin/dinos...-prod1290004" For best effect, place the coin in sunlight, fluorescent, or incandescent light for 30 - 60 seconds then bring the coin into the dark to reveal the skeleton of the dinosaur! Turn off the lights and discover the Pachyrhinosaurus's glowing skeleton!" Then in 2015: "The Weather Phenomenon series, Summer Storm A FIRST: Includes a black light flashlight that makes the lightning bolts on the coin radiate across the sky!" Anyone know, did the previous GITD coins that didn't include a flashlight also fail to glow by being exposed to a light source? I don't recall it being a problem but perhaps it was?

I have the Star Trek five captains glow in the dark coin that didn't include a flashlight, I had problems seeing the glow in the dark ship by only exposing it to normal light but now I used the flashlight and it glows like it should. By the way I received my black flashlight today hand delivered to my door but no coin it's on back order. Who's in charge of shipping at RCM? they sure do like wasting money. Why does every dealer in Canada have the 2oz. Parliament Buildings coin ready to ship except the RCM who makes it?

With my Coral GITD, parts of the coin had a glow-in-the-dark effect with normal light but other parts were only visible with the black light.

Quote: @shopaholic: Did you notice any other flaws? @quasarito: there seems to be quite a few flaws with this coin: I think the template for electroplating was misaligned, so the rim of the maple leaf and the effigy were not covered properly. Also there are some defects along the rim..

Thanks @shopaholic!
I examined the periphery around the central maple leaf & the effigy, and I am seeing a thin "halo" of silver around that is pretty much uniform in thickness (except for that blotch at the nose). Again, it is only noticeable at certain angles. It makes me wonder if that is how the coin is suppose to be. If misaligned, I would presume to find some gold on the relief where is should be silver. But I'm not knowledgeable in such matters so I don't know what to expect. Thanks for the feedback. It is very much appreciated.
If anyone in the community has purchased this coin and can comment on what they can observe on their coin, it would be great to know what results are out there.

Not sure these are actual flaws...likely some of these highlighted minor plating imperfections will be evident on other ones of this same coin.
