Just a guess on this but it looks like someone cleaned it, discovered it really messed it up, then tried to recover from how bad it might have been. NumisRob Bedrock of the Community United Kingdom 18030 Posts	Posted 06/15/2017 2:44 pm Looking at the dark toning around the obverse lettering, and the black staining above and inside the 'O' of 'ONE', I wonder if it had a really black tone all over at one time (environmental damage) which someone tried to remove.
