You are correct about CC&C. I forgot that they sent me an order confirmation just recently to add a free bronze coin with my order of the GITD. My brain is still suffering from "Toonie Fever". LOL

The peak of interest passed together with the actual Canada 150-anniversary celebrations.
And the coin is available for issue at the Coin Shoppe..
However, since for many people it could be keeper as a good memories for these days, it still might be popular.

I received the coin today and I confirm it does not "glow-in-dark" without the black light flashlight. It appears they used fluorescent paint similar to the type used on currency and stamps. This type of ink is only visible under a ultra-violet (UV) light which is why the RCM provided a black light. Other glow-in-the dark coins use phosphorescent paint that glows with in the dark after exposed to regular light sources. |

Its a keeper for my personal collection as a memento of Canada 150. I like the design of the coin, Nice mixture of blue sky, red flags, and red shirts. The GITD fireworks look good. Only drawback is you need a black light to see the special effects. However it is not a good coin for re-selling. 5000 mintage is a bit high as it is available everywhere for sale outside of the RCM at issue price. When the hoopla surrounding Canada 150 recedes this coin and others commemorating Canada 150 will be sold for a discount. |

Even such small thing as coins not really visible in circulation (expected them to overflow from everywhere) Where buses or streetcars or subway train repainted in Canada Flag pattern? Where ads and posters doesn't "scream" from everywhere, that we are 150 now? Why already for 2 weeks I see the rainbow flag, where I usual to see the Canada flag? |

@silveroid, come to Ottawa. EVERYTHING is Canada150 here. I'm pretty sure the city has installed 150 pot holes on my street for the occasion, and the Mayor likely attended the ribbon cutting ceremony. He often mocks himself saying he would attend the opening of an envelope which is sadly very accurate. Yesterday, they even moved the CANADA150 sign to Parliament Hill near the Centennial Flame. The party will continue here for at least another 6 months. Still tons of events planned.  It's just too bad that Canada Day here was such a mess though. I suspect that unlike 1967, the memories of many who attended will be of heavy rain and long line ups rather than a birthday celebration. Note in that pic that they re-sodded the Hill because all of the grass was destroyed on Canada Day weekend. Looks like it also resulted in a low turn out for the weekly yoga on the Hill as can be seen on the right side of the lawn. Edited by CC-Ottawa

Pretty disheartening to see it now selling for $109 at CA. https://www.colonialacres.com/product-p/161450.htmI bought 2 of them at full price + PST or $200+ each. My prediction from last year became true: Quote:

Several years ago, there was more discussion here on coins other than the latest releases. This kept things going in between releases. Folks did more show-and-tell with pieces from their collection. When the focus changed to being on the latest releases and which coin(s), if any, from them are going to be popular enough to increase in value, the number of members posting about older coins in their collection decreased noticeably. Without these types of posts, things can go quiet. Combine that with a general lowering of interest in modern, often-over-priced NCLT and you get a quiet forum. Just my opinion, of course. Collecting history one coin or medal at a time! (c) commems. All rights reserved.

It's been stated here many times about NCLT: too many releases, overpriced, gimmicks and trinkets. OTOH it is a great time to buy coins you enjoy for <50% issue and then enjoy them.
