Hey! So I´ve got this coin that I´d like to know if is fake or not.. I got it in an alley in China from a family who lived there, they were selling all kinds of weird antiques.
I only bought this coin because of the looks of it, and I have no intention of selling it even if it´s worth a lot, I´d just like to know if i´ts real
I don´t have a weigh so I can´t weigh it, but it´s pretty heavy.

It's counterfeit. It has that cast grainy look to it.

@marihone, sorry but yes I agree that it is a fake also. Moreover, it is almost certainly not silver.

Don't buy anything thing from the streets in China, period.

My mom went to China for holiday and one of the peddlers spun a
tale about his tael - how the coins he was selling were passed down from his ancestors, my mom
knew I liked coins and bought it for me. When she gave it to me I could
tell it was a fake but didn't have the heart to tell her.

I see a few coins on ebay similar to this advertised as 'reproduction' but like this look very authentic, I nearly bought one before rereading the description.

@Marihone, can you tell the weight of this coin? If the weight is not correct, no chance of it to be real.

The denticles of the reverse side is not great and the letters on the dragon side are too good to be real.

So I vote the coin is fake.

A petty correction here and no real value added to the topic but the dragon IS the reverse side and "only 5 dollars" is still 5 times too much.
