Poll Question
I am about to take pictures of my "work-in-process" collection of the US nickels produced 1883-1912, and was trying to decide on what file names I will use. I have been using and have seen several versions online & in print. I figured to poll the CCF Membership to find the general opinion.

What name do you use for US nickels produced 1883-1912?

I just call them V nickels. If I write about them I call them Liberty nickels or sometimes Liberty Head Nickels. In our Coin Facts link, they are listed as 1883-1913 Liberty (V) Nickel

They also have a different name for each company that produces albums/folders.

I like the term " Liberty V nickels". Pretty much covers all the bases except for the designers name.

When I talk to myself, I say Liberty nickel.

That's what I voted but, I also use V nickel in my head. I'm pretty sure I've never thought or said Liberty V nickel. I think I said Liberty Head Nickel for the first time today. I was talking to my mom about coins and said, "...Liberty Nickels, or Liberty Head Nickels..."

So, I guess I can't make up my mind!

V nickels (without any mention of "Liberty"), and I suspect this is a sufficiently common option to be more likely than most of those featured specifically.

I did a little research, and of the online coin sites I frequent (mostly coin vendors):
1 V nickel
3 Liberty V nickel
3 Liberty Head Nickel
9 Liberty nickel

Over at Collectors Universe they are portrayed as "Barber Nickels", since they were designed by Charles Barber.

Sounds like a political debate. I'd go with the "both" option simply because it covers all bases. The Liberty Vs. V-Nickel depends on how you learned to define them and that won't change.

Barber nickels would confuse too many collectors.
