Finally was able to get some good enough pictures of the first page of the Dansco #8113. I had the 38's & 39's so I just used those to save a little money for now, I'll update them to UNC's at a later date. The album is definitely getting heavier!
Clicking on the pictures will enlarge them.

Beautiful set. Show pics of the REV of the 39s and 40s so we can see if they are type I (REV of 38) or type II (REV of 40).

If the steps are showing, here is the difference:

If the steps are not showing, then you can use the following:

The 39's steps are too worn to tell. That's about the best pic I could get of the 40's:

These are the 39-D & S - the 39-P has the same reverse as the D - the S from the 39-S looks different?

I agree. I can see a pretty prominent serif on the S in PLURIBUS for your 39D, making it a Type II. But there is no serif on PLUBUS of your your 39-S., making it a Type I.

The online info I gave researched says 1939 P has only a 10% chance of being a Type I.

The 39-D has a 25% chance of being Type I.

The 1939-S has a 50% chance.

And sorry I goofed when I asked you to post the 1940s. All 1940 nickels from all three mints were Type II with the exception of some proof 1940-S issues. Yours are all great looking coins. You make me want to start upgrading all of mine!

I just started to finally look for Type Is the other day. I had 3 rolls of 1939-P nickels I had put away as a kid. I went through them and found five type I 1939-P nickels!

My D turned out to be a Type I and my S is like yours, a type II.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks jbuck & mox for your kind replies!

And thanks Earle for the 39 type I & II information. I'll have to look at my other 39's.

You are welcome. I always like finding good varieties like this. Some of the micro-variety stuff does not interest me, but a major difference like this does.

Although some on ebay are listed with types, a lot of them are not.
