Spectacular show. I would love for that to be true, would make a rush on unopened sets and help this train wreck along. However, I am somewhat skeptical. I am very curious to hear some others opinions on this one.

Man, I'm not sure about that moxking. It has potential, but I'd send it in to get looked at by Wexler. Worth the $4 charge.

The peripheral lettering is incuse, correct? If so, then it is just Machine Doubling.

A doubled die actually looks opposite on incuse lettering compared to raised lettering on a coin's surface. Incuse lettering on a coin is raised on the die, so if it gets pressed doubled, it thins the raised part on the die, thinning the incuse device on the coin. If there is movement during striking, the incuse device will appear wider like shown in this example. So, this is not a doubled die.

Yeah, I discovered the same thing a while back.... http://goccf.com/t/299008And I'm still confused about why everyone is so sure it's not a doubled die? I would put the ability to comprehend and understand the complexity of variety and error numismatics right up there with astrophysics and DSLR camera settings, lol.

When I looked at the mint proof dollar image of this coin, it appears the devices are raised and not incuse. https://www.usmint.gov/wordpress/wp...-reverse.jpgLooks like the one in the image is machine doubled on this proof example. So the jury is still out for this coin on the thread. Side by side need to be made to see if the devices are enlarged or reduced from MD on this coin post on this thread. (Wish I had a program for overlays again)

And unless I'm going blind, the only incuse lettering I see on this coin is the actual edge lettering Iitself that includes the date and E PLURIBUS UNUM. The devices in question (outer rim lettering) IMO is raised and NOT incuse. However, it is located within what appears to be a slightly recessed outer ring of the field.
