It was created as a reward for MC and originally a limited mintage coin for the tiered MC but as you increase mintage, it's basically a run of the mill coin and in this environment of a coin a day release policy of the RCM. There is just nothing special about it anymore as such that is why you could have ordered 2 from RCM or at one point unlimited from CCC, at one point the RCM must have had over 10000 MC but certainly over the last couple years that number has vastly diminished.

I just picked up one this morning from a dealer in downtown Toronto. The coin and packaging look amazing. I love when the RCM keeps it simple. The Remastered Voyageur, Library of Parliament and now this one are definitely one of my favourite series from the RCM.

MC Exclusive series rewards loyalty - with a well designed, well packaged product...not sure how it could be viewed as a run of the mill...soon to sell out again.

The goal of the RCM is make money for themselves, not us. I am sure the RCM underestimated the demand for the 1st Renewed Silver Dollar. They probably heard an earful from MC members that did not get one. So they increase the mintage for the 2nd coin and again, it sold out quickly. As well, some MC members did not get one. For the 3rd coin, they doubled the mintage. And why not? It serves two purposes; let as many MC members as possible to buy the coin. Also by minting 4000 coins, the RCM is gaining more revenue with a sure sellout.

When the RCM revamped their MC program a promise of exclusive one off coins, almost 2/3 of all issues are considered sell outs but many coins remain in dealers inventory thus causing the discounting. At recent GTA coin shows an outfit called The Auction Network who does internet sales and at the shows sell about year old NCLT for about 50% of issue with very little sales. The second coin in this series barely sells for above issue, I guess if this coin doesn't drop to 60%, it's a great success. Always says buy what you like,if everyone keeps the buying the RCM will keep making them, I for one am tired of losing a quick 40% or more when you can about 97% of all issues purchase latter at decent discounts.

This is what I say. The situation and availability - is good for the collectors and RCM. But definitively harms to high level MC, cause now they simply do not have "MC exclusive coin". They were able to order before all, but this happens with every and each release. Added: dealers will and have to wait a bit with this coin. After official RCM sold-out, they will have some for increased price , let's say CAD 250 ...

How can the overproduction of RCM coins help collectors, in this case due to increase mintage and obvious lack of interest from higher MC it will drive even the value of the first coin down. Just look at recent sales of the ladybug coin, it was the poster boy of all recent NCLT that went up and held value, until recently with many more glass coins being introduced the value has been going down constantly. Like I said before I don't expect to make money on NCLT, but I surely don't want to instantly lose value too.

Coins are not an investment. They are an hobby, an expensive one at that. Sure it is nice to have a coin jump in value and make money off it. But that is a rarity. Coin collecting is just for fun, something to see and hold. Coins are not the only hobby that loses value. Practically everything that is mass produced loses value. Name one hobby that appreciates or hold their value. Besides rare art, nothing. As for the RCM, their objective is profit. Why would they sell 2000 of the Renewed Silver Dollars when they can sell 4000 since there is a demand for it? Why should they care about people flipping coins, that is not their business. The RCM has adjusted their mintages in the last couple years due to less demand for their coins. Where mintage were regularly 10,000 to 12,000, now the average seems to be around 6000. Lots of coins are around 7500-10,000 and many are at the 4000 level. Also, I am sure the RCM at losing a lot of MC members. That is one of the reason this coin has not sold out. The main reason for the loss of members is the ending of the face value program. It was very easy to obtain MC membership in the past by just buying a few of the $50, $100, $200 and you were an instant MC member.

It will help. But only for the first coin. And as someone pointed out - not for the very long term. People loosing interest, new items coming (similar as in every collectibles)

There is a difference with this coin from the rest of the NCLT, this was too be an exclusive MC reward, yet RCM greed has them raising mintage every coin where most of us don't really care at issue price. Majority knows buying NCLT are not like buying shares of Bell, Apple, ect. and yes hobbies are to be enjoyed, but most of us are not suckers. As I mentioned before talking to some pretty high ranking RCM people at the RCNA show if you keep buying, we will keep making them. When I was offered a RCM rep a few years ago right after the BOC gold coin fiasco it created an immense amount of one time MC, the rep told me back then there was around 8500 MC, so these 4000 or much less coins was able to pass the now MC ranks what does that tell you about the state of NCLT

Certainly MC coins have become much less exclusive (and more accessible).
The coin #1 has a mintage of 2,000, and 90% reserved for MC members.
This coin has a mintage of 4,000, and CC&C VIP members can buy unlimited of them right now.
And the prices are about the same.
MC coins are more and more like regular commissioned coins.
What's the point of making an "exclusive" product when everyone can buy it?

By the way, anyone thinks this coin is too similar to the puzzle coin?
