When I got the advanced email, without seeing it, I took the gamble to take the chance. Figured it was 50/50. When I finally saw the pictures last night, my heart sank at how weird it looked, and considered cancelling my order.
Just got the Sold Out email a few mins ago. Guess I'll hold on for now. I'm hoping it'll look better in 3D.

If they are to continue with Star ships, then "The Voyager" and the "Deep Space 9 Station" will follow suit.

These are not coins, just sucker-bait tokens, far worse than the junk from the Franklin Mint so many years ago.

Coins come in all material and shapes and sizes. Goes back thousands of years (example: knife money from ancient China). Yes this doesn't look like your typical round shape coin but it is legal tender and if you really wanted to, you can spend it for merchandise. But any right minded person surely wouldn't spend it for the $100 face value that it has when the silver content is worth more and has a value of $1200.00 to purchase. So it doesn't matter what the Mint put out, as long as they puts a face value on whatever they produce (yes even Spocks ears) it will be considered to be a coin. IMHO Spade money from the Zhou Dynasty, circa 650-400 BC.

They may sell out of this thing, but it certainly won't be in the hands of coin collectors. I'm certain some people bought it because it is selling out quickly, and expect it to increase in value. When all is said and done, I suspect there will be more of these displayed on a shelf with action figures than there will be traditional coins. I'm surprised there hasn't been a petition started to prevent the mint from putting dollar amounts on random junk. If they want to sell this as bullion with an insane mark up, so be it, but I'm offended as a Canadian to be told that this is a coin or legal tender. It you thought it was hard cashing in a $20 for $20 at your local bank, what are your chances with this joke?

If someone is willing to cash this at a bank for face value , they got to have their head examined. I'll offer double what the banks would give if anyone wants to get rid of it. I'll even throw in the star trek series. Lol

Again we make them, you buy them, who is at fault. One would guess the minimum royalties on this unit be at least 10% or much more

I bought the gold delta and I love the coin, but this one is too much for me.

This is sad. I, too bought the gold delta but this "thing" looks ridiculous. I mean, on the other forum, they are showing star trek pizza cutters and bottle openers that look exactly like this "thing" does. I do not call this a coin. I am really disappointed with the whole concept.

If it can't be flipped, and heads or tails be called, it's not a coin. Simple as that.

At least the WHOLE Enterprise is there....not like the 1/2 of a Stanley Cup we got 2 weeks ago
Rumour has it the Mint couldn't make a WHOLE Stanley Cup because they needed the Silver for the Enterprise......

The reason for the quick near sell out is likely due to the low mintage of 1000. Remember the Delta coin had a higher mintage of 1500, so it took a bit longer to sell out. 1000 is not a lot of coins to go around, considering the RCM's large network of dealers. Canada Post and large dealers like CCC&C/Shopping Channel/Gatewest are likely to get 50-100 each. Then there are smaller dealers. And don't forget European dealers who are probably interested in the coin. So maybe the RCM only had 500 for themselves. That could go pretty fast.

Well said @Redzapsid... let's get back to our roots: fewer issues with more meaning.
