I'm being dead serious. There's not a single hairline on it. The luster was amazing.

Free that thing from it's NGC holder and put it in an airtite.

It was sent in with a batch of other coins from this dealer. Most were silver dollars. I browsed these coins on multiple visits and I saw many raw Peace and Morgan dollars that had very obvious artificial toning so maybe that has something to do with it. His wife said he was furious at the results on his coins. All the other coins I sent in graded straight including that 72 Seated dollar.

NGC likes calling rim toning like that cleaning, but knowing it was in a submission with a lot of other coins they details graded they very likely just nuked anything with color. Whenever you get a few details coins for color PCGS/NGC generally just nuke the rest of the color in the submission with guilt by association.

Now I think it's coming together. I think basebal is definitely onto something.
To call that coin a details coin and nuke it like that is just ludicrous.
What's the next step? Send it to PCGS and write off the 50 bucks paid to NGC as a sunk cost?

Quote: What's the next step? Send it to PCGS and write off the 50 bucks paid to NGC as a sunk cost? It was $25 for the grade. I'm done with this dealer. It took him 2 months just to send the dam thing in and he's 3 hours away from kc. I don't think he's very savvy in dealing with grading companies. I gave him these coins to submit just after thanksgiving. Three months of time wasted. Just got off the horn with a local dealer and he said it would be $20 to send into PCGS economy. What I should've done in the first place.

Not trying to reopen old wounds, but I would have left her in the old ANACS holder and sent her to PCGS for a crossover. If PCGS thought that she was anything but a straight grade (details; cleaned, whizzed, scratched, etc...), it would have stayed in the ANACS holder. I have only cracked one slab before and I was worried to death waiting for the result, fortunately it came back higher than the slab that I cracked her out of. This would be a time to crack her out of NGC plastic and send her to PCGS for their opinion...and TrueView imaging. She sure is a beauty!

NGC is completely incorrect. It is not cleaned at all.
I would have left it in the ANACS holder, or sent to PCGS. But not NGC. They just aren't as good as PCGS when it comes to grading.
Send it to PCGS. Good luck on the results.

Anyway, why not expedite to PCGS? I think the added incremental cost is worth it to not waste a few more weeks. I will not rest until this coin sits in a MS holder!

Personally I'd go dark regarding this coin. You have some good offers now. Why publicize what's going on and the results from grading? That's not going to benefit you at this point.
Short of that, forget the local coin shops. I personally would send it to an expert who can handle this coin for you and submit it to PCGS with quality material...someone like Warren Mills at RCNH. He will also provide his opinion and, if it's as nice as you say it is, will get it done right for you including submitting it all the way through to CAC. You're only out the phone call and cost to ship it to them.

Quote: Why publicize what's going on and the results from grading? Someone might learn something from this. I'm not worried about the coin. A cleaned coin doesn't have full cartwheel luster and no hairlines like this one. Some folks might learn how inaccurate the grading agencies can be. Thanks for referral!

I'd submit it myself at this point but if you want to use someone else HLRC is someone to check out too for submitting.
