All I found was a rusty nut and bolt a Pepsi can and a battery for a Milwaukee drill.

At least you found something. Practice, practice, practice and try as many different locations as possible. Post the make and model of your detector and some members can give you some tips adjusting your settings.

I went out hunting last year with a pick ax :) Roman coins & Canadian grenade fragments was the result I was hoping for. Result: pull tabs, aluminium foil and some 17th century copper coins

Thanks guys, it's a Garret ace 300.

I did the coin garden thing it picked up the coins just fine AND it also picked up the buried power wires that feed the breaker box in my garage,.. I wondered where they were.
