A worn silver dime is small enough to be added as a small bauble or trinket to your key ring. As such, it would be subjected to severe wear. That's OK if it is only a cheapie in the first place. I would be happy to hole such a coin to carry it on a key ring. A larger coin can be used for a pocket piece, but it would also be subject to heavy wear. I would suggest no bigger than a Half Dollar is best. Australia attempted introduce a 5 Shilling silver Dollar sized coin into circulation in 1937. It was a failure because almost all people did not want to carry such a large coin around in their pocket. It was simply too large and heavy. Report this Post to the Staff

This coin and the other 3 small ones were added as grinders to the pocket as the large Silver Dollar sized coins were not wearing down fast enough on their own.
