Did People Hoard Silver Coins After 1964?

My older sister worked as a bank teller in the 70's and she and her co-workers snagged a lot of silver in their teller drawers. They would set it aside and buy it at the end of their shifts. She kept the finds in coffee cans for years before selling much of it after combing through it for specific savers.

I actually started in the late '50's, as a way to have something to do during summer recess. If it wasn't for my Mother, I wouldn't have complete collections of the silver coinage. She's the one that pulled it from circulation; I couldn't afford to.

while the bulk of old silver coins have been pulled from circulation, there is still silver in circulation to find. even though most of it is now pulled, I think people often forget or fail to realize that many people do not know the difference and silver is still being put back into circulation through various means. it can still be found, just not in the quantities found in the mid-to-late 1960s and 1970s. it is still out there, you just have to be diligent and watching for it.

Now that is a lot of silver quarters! nice job hoarding them (no wonder I can't find them anymore)
