1978-P BU Lincoln Memorial Cent / LMC Reverse Blob Of Metal...or Foreign Material?

SF11Dude Pillar of the Community United States 746 Posts	Posted 01/20/2018 10:34 am Going through these 1978-P UNC cents and saw what looks like this metal chunk on the reverse. Is it something stuck to the back, foreign debris? I am reticent to "preserve" it until I get an opinion. It looks like zinc bloom/rot but the 5% zinc should't cause that should it? coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 01/20/2018 1:14 pm Possible clear grease. It picked up color as it circulated. But you often see this near the rims and sometimes in the bays. This is easily removed as you did with a toothpick. Report this Post to the Staff
