Sorry 'bout that!
Indeed I meant Numista, and funny coincidence that you have a similar coin.

(Gee, I was hoping you also had something to post from the 1170s

Sadly, no. I don't have much of anything from the next few centuries that I can post here- in fact, I think the next four decades for me are the 1020s (1028-1034), 800s (AH 187 = AD 803), 730s (AH 117 = AD 735), and 560s (565/66 and two for 568/69).
One that I wish I hadn't missed is the 1350s- I have one for 1354-55, and no coin fitting entirely within that decade was posted.

By an incredible stroke of luck, this coin of mine had just been attributed to the 1170s...

Qarakhanids, Rukn al-Din Muhammad bin Mas'ud, 566-574 AH (1171-1178/9 AD), AE dirham, type of Samarqand.
Album 3401 (whatever that means).

I'm still not sure whether the exact date can be identified (573 AH/1177 AD is suspected at the moment), but either way it should drop right into the current decade

EDIT: said to be Kochnev 1063; apparently type of 572[-4] AH. I don't know remotely near enough about the dates to be sure either way, but this does make the suggested date of 573 AH (1177 AD) more likely.

Ok yay, starting first thing tomorrow we can move back to the decade of the 1160s AD. Special thanks to @Kushanshah, for the identification of this Dirham!

Ok well, now that we are moving back in time again thanks to @J1M, I can post this Dirham from the Zangid Dynasty from AH 556 (1160/1161 AD). It was minted at al-Mawsil and is attributed as Album 1858.

Starting tomorrow, we can drop back to the decade of the 1150s.

Glad to see we made it past the 1170s!

Here is a Zhenglong cash coin from the Tartar Dynasty of China, which was made from 1156 to 1161:

It's an awesome coin, but it belongs with the 1130s. We need to post a coin from the 1140s before it. Sorry.

Ok yes @j1m, that is a valid point--we are still looking for a coin that has as its starting point, a year in the decade of the 1140s.

@orfew, do you mind taking a (hopefully short) rain check and then bringing back that penny when we are ready for it?

Ok perfect--but no need to remove anything. Just please when we find someone to post a coin from the 1140s, wait a day and then re-post your penny. I've got a bunch of coins that have minting timeframes that include the 1140s, but none that quite fit into our criteria so I'm hoping that someone else can post one of theirs.

Like orfew, I have one that spans the 1130s and 1140s, but nothing starting in 1140s.
