This very thin, square item weighs 1.41 g and is 21 mm across. It seems to be brass. I can make out the Arabic number 35 on it, but that's about all I can tell. Will appreciate any help with ID.

That's an interesting piece. Almost seems like a label or tag but no hole.

I agree. It seems more to me like a claim check or meal token than a coin. For one thing, there's very little writing on it.

Meal token is a great guess. Guess we'll wait and see.

May also be a tax token of some sort?

Yes, that's certainly worth considering. A quick Google search for "Arabic tax tokens" didn't turn up anything, but that doesn't rule it out. I'm still open to suggestions.
