That is the equivalent of years worth of CRHing in one go! Congratulations, John77!

Pretty crazy, huh? I've had some amazing nickel finds this year... and we're not even a third of the way into it... which reminds me, I need to post what I found about 6 hours ago in the main thread. You'll like it!

Dates or not, it is a fantastic score!

Sure is! And for the next few weeks, I'm probably going to have fun checking every morning to see if any of the dates appear on the ones pickling!

Like I said yesterday about a very worn IHC found in a bank roll . Probably some collector who didn't want to be bothered with worn inferior and mostly dateless Buff's , and decided to cash them in at face .
Good for you , good luck bringing up those dates .

What's your particular method of pickling?

Was wondering the same. Is that a trade secret?

Excellent haul! I got a similar roll a few years ago... all buffaloes, mostly dateless... it was probably the most thrilling experience from my CRH career!

Any plans to nic-a-date any of these?

"Pickling" is more a matter of patience than anything. No secrets here... Put them in straight white vinegar and keep an eye on them...

No, though it looks like the previous owner (or someone else) used it unsuccessfully on a handful of them.

*UPDATE*

I went back to that bank just now... the teller went to the vault and went through the branches nickel inventory. They only had 3 CWR left... but one of them was part of THE BATCH!

There's a War Nickel in there and two 1940-P Jeffersons... more updates to come!

*NEW UPDATE* - one of the coins is a 1913 Type 1, 2 of the dateless are D-mints, and one is an S-mint.

I would request all of the rolls of coins that customer brought in. Good luck!

Unfortunately, I have no idea what that customer brought in or when. That particular branch is not a merchant branch, so they don't usually have a lot of rolls on hand. I got Cents and Dimes yesterday as well at that branch, and there was nothing special in any of those rolls. The person in front of me today got 4 rolls of Quarters, 3 rolls of Dimes, 1 roll of Nickels, and 6 rolls of Cents - no old style wrappings on any of them...

Sweet!

VERY sweet! 113 Buffalo nickels, a War Nickel, and 3 common date pre-1942 Jeffersons. I had my 65 coin semi-key date Jefferson nickel hoard last month (which led me to a 1950-D), and now this... been having soooo much fun doing this!
