1982 Penny Large Date With Die Break

I call that a die crack. First time I saw one start at 4k and go all the way up the last column.It looks as if something is going on with the last 3 columns.

Consulting the experts again. Please focus you attention at the top of Lincoln's head. The bean might be hard to see but it goes to the top of the coin.

That is a die crack known as a Spiked Head.

Popejoy, that's a Die Crack. We call them "Spiked Heads" because the crack is going into Lincoln's head.

@PJ42, yes I think that some folks pay a small premium for them.

Also, one minor issue of CCF etiquette, please create a new thread when you post a new coin rather than tacking onto some other thread. It helps us keep things straight when we go back and perform searches of prior CCF threads. Not a big deal, but just a tip for the future. Thx!
