If you found them in one dollar rolls it must have been pretty interesting seeing a clad edge in between two aluminium-bronze edges!

Generally speaking: Never clean coins.
It depends on the cleaning and the coin. I often get cu-ni coins with the dreaded green slime at a bargain price. A quick clean with acetone using a soft cloth produces an aUNC coin. I also use acetone or metho to clean coins like the recent matildas. You never know what is on the check out persons fingers so giving them a quick clean prevents possible development of latent fingerprints etc. I do also use 000 wool and water to clean the rust off iron notgeld and then apply Rennaisance wax to prevent future corrosion. Albeit none of these coins are of particularly high value.

DG, what's your method for cleaning cu-ni coins with acetone? How much do you use and how long?
Also, can you also use acetone to clean aluminium-bronze ($1 and $2) coins?

Found this 2010 $1 Guides coin in today's noodle. Has a very tiny "1" stamped immediately over the 1 in the 2010 on the obverse. Unfortunately I can't get a better pic but it is easily seen by eye and quite clear under a magnifying glass. I am pretty sure it is PMD - wonder why people bother doing this?

I finally cracked a year 2000 $1 mule coin. I'm so stoked. I feel like I have joined a very exclusive club - sort of the "mile high" club for noodlers! I usually get one or two bags of $1 coins each week from the bank to noodle. Over the years then it means I have probably noodled through around 250,000 $1 coins to find this one. I suppose the good news for those who still hope to find one for their own collection is that there are mules out there. Happy hunting.
