The 1997 coin is in very good condition with hardly a mark on it but it has a distinct copper color rather than the usual gold color. Does anyone know what might cause that coloring?

Could be anything but Coins stored in cars under mats can morph into all sorts of shades, especially 'silver' type Coins when there is a bit of moisture around.

Hi
I'm new to the forum but wanted to share a find.
While walking the beach at Hamlin Bay in W.A I stumbled across a flat black rock with green spots about 6mm thick.
I thought it must have been metal and broke open back at camp. I wish I had have A: taken a propper before photo and B: left half of the build up on the other side as my son wants to display it.

Its a 1967 20cent coin! The kids we stoked that we found treasure.

Noodled through a bag of $2 coins this week hoping to find a Vegemite coin - no luck. Maybe to early for them to show up in rolled coins? Anyway, out of 1000 coins, these are what I was lucky enough to score. Some are a bit grubby so will try cleaning them.

Mint set only 1995 10 cent. Grubby but the only one I've ever found.

Nice find, MachinMachinMan! I must admit that in my 61 years, I've never found an Australian coin here in the US. Must be a distance thing.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
