Hello all, found this a few years back. Was going through old boxes ofcoins and decided to post for replies. I have not weighed it yet but I can see some metal. My question is, besides USPatterns.com is there another location to look for specs on these patterns. Thank you for the help.

This isn't a "pattern" coin, it is an artificial rendering. If it is steel cored(magnetic, highly) then it is a fake, counterfeit, or just plain garage concoction from Juanito's Body Shop. There are just those few pattern coins made, no more. The few copper 43's and steel 44's are less than 20/6 known examples, and these are not referred to as patterns, but mint errors.

BTW, the three '43's I have are in all stages of circulation even, EF-MS!

Checking to see if it is attracted to a magnet is probably the first step that you should take. I agree that getting an accurate weight, along with diameter and thickness are also important. To answer your specific question, this link may be useful if you are interested in Weight Tolerances:

Crazy, the 43 copper and 44 steels are not Pattern coins, they are considered Errors. The coin or coins Iam asking about are considered patterns or experimental coins.

What are you asking about, if not the 1943 and 1944 error LWCs?

Is this what you are referring to? https://coins.ha.com/itm/patterns/f.../1136-2382.s

If so, none of these pattern coins resemble the coin in the original photo.

Thank you. I was looking for more info on those. It shows the weights of each of the coins. The only info missing is the is the weight of the copper/zinc alloy ones if they exist.

If you want information on the patterns and experiments the mint conducted for the 1943 cents the go to source is United States Patterna and Experimental Pieces of WWII by Roger Burdette. It is available here. (I have no financial connection to the book or the website)
