So in the numismatic world, which (in your opinion) is better, a clip or incomplete planchet?

They are different terms for the same event. The coin would be an incomplete planchet. The area where the clip happened is the clipped area. With out the clip, you would have a normal planchet. With the clip, you have an incomplete planchet.
So rather than saying I have a double clip on my coin. The correct term would be : I have an incomplete planchet with two clips.
Other events that prevents the planchet can also be referred to as an incomplete planchet. Split, cracked, clamshell, ragged, broken .... More than I could list. (just a few off the top of my head)

I was thinking the blank planchet went into the press like that and came out like that. Thanks!

Thanks! Editing a lot of pics I took yesterday and posting as I get through them. At least I am up into the clad years from the ones in storage. I have not opened my three ring binder which has a lot of other varieties in it (but I think mostly clad varieties). Here is one that puzzles me. Its a gold toned 1967 that has what I suspect I incorrectly labeled a die crack. The crack does not go over the letter R. Is this a cracked planchet instead? Is there such a thing?

Hey USSID18 I appreciate it, but have you ever seen the 1964 SMS JFK last one at auction in 2016 sold for $47,000 and just so happens the coin I posted has all of the markers according to PCGS

I'm pretty sure that yours is a normal business strike.

No, I didn't know that. I don't know much about all the markers on these things. I'm sure you know more about these Kennedy's then I do. Have you thought about submitting it? I think you should listen to Tootallious.
