@tdziemia nice coin, 90C in our book. @pepactonius not included into our book yet, but well known as 85A1. We are working on new book "Lithuanian Coinage of Alexander Jagiellon and Sigismund the Old 1495-1536" and will include much more variants.

I'll join you all in posting Lithuanian Half Groschen tomorrow. For today, I have a Batzen from the German City State of Augsburg dated AD 1522:

Ironically enough, my coin for tomorrow is neither Lithuanian nor, technically speaking, German. (It's probably closer to German though.) For today, however, I have... my one and only dated Lithuanian half-groschen! Not my usual camera, so the pics... let's go with "kinda suck". Might try to make better pics later. Fun fact: I've bought this in Kaliningrad, and then, for safe-keeping during the return trip, put my Kaliningrad purchases into a plastic shopping bag and stuffed the bag into a sock. Like, an actual literal sock. Which I then apparently misplaced shortly after returning home. I found the sock by sheer accident over a year later, and was surprised by the coins that I definitely didn't remember purchasing - especially the 1522 Lithuanian half-groschen. (Most of the rest of those coins were too ordinary for me to remember.)

Nice! I have an OFER (one from each reign) collection going for Brabant, and try to get a coin with a royal portrait, if possible. As you know, starting with Phillip II this is pretty easy, but Charles poses a problem. The silver coins with his portrait are VERY expensive in grades VF and above. So I have played with the idea of looking for a decent real (is there also a half real?), which would probably cost less. I know there is also a copper coin (kort) with Charles' portrait, but I don't think Ive seen a nice one for sale (and I am partial to silver and gold from this era). IN the meantime, I have a nice 4 stuiver piece. But I would really like a portrait of this important historical figure on a Brabant coin.

@tdziemia, nice coin 1522 with rare 13 in our book Eagle, 82A in our book, @january1may, 1522 80K in our book, @pepactonius, really good coin with MAGN instead of MAGNI in legend, 79BI in our book, @Spemce, congratulations, Your coin with multiple repairs in the reverse legend not included into any hammered Lithuanian coins catalogue. Can You send me PM with the good pictures of this coin on white surface? I would like to include it into our newest book "Lithuanian coinage of Alexander Jagiellon and Sigismund the Old 1495-1536" we are working on.

This little coin here was photographed for the original How Far Back Can We Go, back in 2013. Alas, the CCF Image Optimizer couldn't deal with photos that large at the time, so it had to be downsized by a factor of 2. Some day I'll find the original in my archives and re-crop it again on the new system... It's still an excellent photo, though (and a pretty decent coin). Archbishopric of Salzburg, Matthäus Lang von Wellenburg, pfennig, 1521. Salzburg arms left, personal arms of Matthäus right (some kind of flower), M for Matthäus below. Uniface, so no photo of the other side (sorry). Salzburg is, of course, technically an Austrian state - thus my comment about "neither Lithuanian nor, technically, German" (though of course it's a HRE state, so in the same general category as the usual "German states").
