Quote: Have you seen one this bad before? I haven't seen one like that. I've seen coins with Die Deterioration, but never that bad! They really used those dies to the maximum!

Is Die Deterioration desirable? or it is just among a few coin collectors? Wondering if I should have put a few on ebay just to see if anyone bites versus I currently dump them into a coinstar kiosk. I'd consider ebay listing at face value, not for the profit but to put these into the hands of someone who can show them some love.

I'm not looking forward to making the "Worst Coins on ebay" discussion in the Main forum...

ItThank you everyone for your comments! Bate, I would love to see your examples. SilverDollar2017, these does were definitely toasted. The obverse die is the worst. Die Deterioration does have value, but only extreme examples carry value. Here's an extreme example on a Quarter. Some guy on ebay bought this Quarter for a good amount of money. https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-c...ers.all.html

This is some wild stuff. So on one extreme I'm looking for coins struck in the top 25% of a fresh die but on the other side of that, I should now save coins that are considered at the end of the die's life.

This is crazy stuff mikem007. As Coop says, save the Very Early Die State coins. And if there's a Very Late Die State coin like mine, save that also. It's uncommon and unusual, since they usually retire the dies before they get like this.

Coop, that's in the best die State. Is that in a Very Early Die State?

I would think so. The poster thought I was a doubled die. ( which most often is thought) because of the 'WE'. But I mentioned EDS, and told her what she had. Great looking die state. My favorite die state. Recent thread: http://goccf.com/t/281316

It definitely looks great, compared to mine lol! Mine is in a Very Late Die State with very mushy and melted devices. It reminds me of melted marshmallows, when you make smores.
