to the forum! I believe you're right! The die scratch going north from the top left of the N in CENT matches the picture from VV. I can also see the separation on the 9 in the first pic. Good eye! I believe I had the same exact scope you do based on the background. It's a Carson, right? I had trouble taking photographs of uncirculated coins, the glare was too much sometimes. I tried blocking some of the light with pieces of black cardstock (very difficult to accomplish) and after messing around with the settings, it worked for a while. Try to experiment with your lighting a bit, you'll find something that works.

Thanks Tanman2001! I really appreciate it. You're right I'm using a Carson and it is definitely challenging with some coins. I'm going to play with the lighting and I appreciate the suggestion. I'm relatively new to the whole hunting for errors thing and am just starting to make some decent finds. Its great because this water jug is like a time capsule that a family member has built up since the early 80's and I'm pulling out some older coins in very nice condition. So far I've found this coin, a 2000 WAM, a LAM, a bunch of wheaties (one 1943 steel),and a few other minor errors and I've barely scratched the surface of the approximately 37,000 pennies in the jug.

To CCF! You're correct. It's a Doubled Die Obverse as it matches the one on varietyvista. Very nice find and congratulations! It's sounds like you're on a very good start already.

Thanks E & V, I appreciate it! I'm going to put it in a 2x2 now to add to the collection. Since my last post I just found a 1998 "BIE" penny with a die chip between the B and E but it has a little crud on it. I've heard of people giving their coins "acetone dips" to clean them but never done it before. Is this something you guys would recommend or no? Specifically with zinc pennies, I also have another 1983 "BIE" penny with junk on it I would prefer to remove. I know this is a little off topic from my thread, but was wondering what you guys thought about it. Thanks!

@Blaz3 - 1985 DDO-001 was minted in Philadelphia, your coin has a Denver mint mark. I don't see any DDO listings for your coin

Sad, but sounds about right with my luck. I would have literally the same coin and not get the credit I deserve. :/
Universe been hating on me extra hard.

@Blaz3 how can you have "literally the same coin" when it isn't even from the same mint as the one EzMoney posted in this thread? Sorry, your coin is just an ordinary penny worth face value.

recommend starting a new thread and post clear pictures of the reverse and obverse... also a close up picture of what you think is doubled.
thanks
please do not piggy back off other folks thread... gets confusing.
