Hello, everyone. Hope it is generally an excellent day :)

I have some pictures and descriptions of some features I've been seeing on my Kennedy halves. I'll try to describe what I see and understand; any information you supply is much appreciated. Ideas about PMD/MD, reasons for the features, value, rarity, and photography recommendations are areas which interest me, among others :) Thanks for looking and sharing!

I do feel I've made a bit of an upgrade to the station - too many words, sorry - you came for the pics!

The first two images show the obverse and reverse of a 1985P semi-golden gloss obverse counterstamped JFK half dollar. On the front, the coin reads (to the left of JFK's neck) 1960 and (to the right) 1985. I would compare the semi-golden gloss tone to a moderately worn 2000 Sacagawea dollar. The reverse appears to be the same color, but otherwise unremarkable.

The third image and fourth images are side-by-sides of two JFK half dollars: on the left, double heads 1971 plain; on the right, a 1971D with a potentially mistruck rim and, on the reverse, a punch in the O of "dollar."

Left (double heads) decent condition, almost identical obverse and reverse. Otherwise unremarkable

Right: It appears to me that the rim of the coin is assymetrical in both width and height (especially noticeable above JFK's head) which may be an offcenter strike or an angled strike? Reverse punch in O appears to be very circular and shallow.

Hope to hear from you all soon :)

Your first coin is what they call a counter stamped coin. Very common. Basically, your coin has been intentionally damaged.

The pictures of the other coins are to small. When you say doubled headed, tells me it's probably a Magician's coin.

Usually, it's recommended to post one coin per thread--gives most of us a chance to focus on one coin verses scrolling up and down, trying to figure out what's going on and keeping comments aligned coin-by-coin.

The photos posted are a bit small to really see what should be seen. Larger, high-resolution images, taken of the coin removed from the 2x2 typically show details much better. Shooting through clear mylar can interfere with getting good pics.

one coin per thread really helps us to reply to you better. And too, your photos really need to be a lot larger. Practice and you'll get better with your coin photography.

Damage to a coin reduces it to face value. Some save them, but not a mint error. Altered coin.

I have one like your first coin in the original package. It's just a novelty/souvenir, gold-plated and counterstamped Kennedy half. The value is basically face because all that "treatment" is essentially damage. Here's mine:

Can you take a pic of the edge of the double heads coin? It is most likely a Magician's coin (altered post-mint). I can't tell anything about the last coin.

I have a double tails War Nickel that I carry around for luck. If you look at the side (sometimes you have to look really close), you can see the seam from where it was spliced together. They are fun, but not an error.

Ahh, apologies for the multiple coins post (multiple times). I'll split this thread and try to get better images a couple of ways. I appreciate your patience with my newbie fumbles

Hope to post again soon :)
