Okay, so I'm looking through my pocket change and see a fingerprint on this 1999 penny.

I've tried everything I can think of to see if it will wipe off n it doesn't.

Any ideas? Maybe an error?

Natural oil on the fingers do damage to copper quite quickly. Not an error and not worth messing with it.

Finger prints are forever unless you use 100% pure acetone right after "you" put your fingerprint on it.

A oily fingerprint ISN'T an error. It's Post Strike Damage (it happened after it left the U.S. Mint). We have natural oil from our fingers, and when it get on a coin and left there, the oil eats away at the metal, causing damage to the coins surfaces.
